Welcome to Stage Rush
Stage Rush (also called Multiplayer Combat Rhythm or MCR throughout my code) is a third-person melee battle royale with a musical twist. The combat phase is pure brawler; think Fortnite vibes, but focused on melee and short range combat: clear reads, spacing, dodges, parries, and commitment to attacks. No gimmicks and no shrinking circle; it’s straight, skill-forward PvP across an open arena.
At musical cues, a glowing stage spawns somewhere on the map and everyone rushes it. Inside the stage, combat shuts off and the game flips into a fast DDR-style rhythm challenge. Do great and you’re rewarded (heals and temporary buffs). Do okay and you hold steady. Do poorly and you take heavy damage, possibly enough to knock you out of the round. That back-and-forth, clean melee punctuated by synchronized rhythm set pieces, creates curated spikes of drama and those “we all hit the drop” moments that make matches memorable. Fight hard, then fight the beat.
My goal with this dev log is to peer pressure myself into doing literally anything keep track of the dev process and my goal is to update it once a week or so. I'll be developing this game in Unreal 5.6.1 and using Aura to help bridge the gap between my Unity skills and my non-existent Unreal skills ;)
